Linda Susan Burkett

August 27, 1949 — April 1, 2026

Linda left this earth on 4/1/26. Born in Bowling Green, Ohio to Robert R. and Jean A. White. Survived by daughters Wendy (Rick) Torres, Cherilyn (Barrett) Marthaler, and Jennifer (Stephen) Linville, and beloved grandchildren Maya, Dominic, Lainey, Vincent, Luke, and Colton. Preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of almost 56 years Lawrence Burkett.

Linda received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at the University of Arizona and taught 2nd Grade at Cragin Elementary before deciding that her time was better served at home as a wife and mom. Though she never returned to teaching, she maintained her continuing education requirements for many years even earning a masters degree equivalent from the University of Arizona in education.

Linda was a Sparkette, a women's auxiliary group affiliated with the Tucson Fire Department. She enjoyed bowling, played on a women's fast-pitch and coed softball teams for many years. The family went on many camping trips with friends and family over the years. She was an avid reader of many genres, her favorites being true crime novels. Linda loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Linda was a friend to all, and maintained lifelong friendships with friends from junior high, high school and the Sparkettes. She will be truly missed.

Family and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service and reception on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM.

Reception following the service will be held at The Tucson Fire Fighters Association, 2430 N Huachuca Dr., Tucson, AZ 85745
