Clarice “Clancy” Joy Stiles (Whetham)

Passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the age of 85, from injuries suffered in a car accident.

Clancy was born on November 16, 1940 in Burke, South Dakota to John and Tillie Whetham. She moved to Greeley with her family when she was in elementary school and attended school in Greeley until her graduation from Greeley High School in 1958. Clancy moved to Chicago after high school graduation to work for United Airlines. Clancy married Donald Lee Stiles in September, 1966 and moved to Denver, then on to several years in Phoenix and San Francisco, moving back to Colorado (Arvada) in the mid-1970’s. Clancy worked for Frontier Airlines for several years, and following her husband’s death in 1990, Clancy moved back to Greeley and went to work for State Farm, where she worked until her retirement. Clancy served as a volunteer advocate for victims with the Greeley Police Department and volunteer assistant with therapeutic riding at Horse Buds, Inc. Clancy was an avid collector of anything and everything to do with owls. Clancy was a fierce cancer fighter and survivor after receiving a stage 4 diagnosis nearly 10 years ago. She was a devoted and loving sister, aunt, step-mom, step-grandmother, godmother, dog and cat mom and a special friend to many.

She was predeceased by her husband Don, her father and mother, John and Tillie Whetham, and special friends Myrna Reese-Stevens and Wenda Wilson.

She is survived by her brother, John C. (“Jay”) Whetham, niece Jennifer James and husband, Joe James, nephew Ryan Whetham and wife, Kincy, stepson Bradford Stiles and wife Kindra, niece Sharon Schumann, nephew Keith Stiles, cousin Mary Stevicks and husband Tom, godchild Kimberly Shanda and husband, Gary, grandchildren Dustin, Brianna and husband Dustin, Jessica and husband, Ty, great-grandchildren Anthony, Dusty, Raylan, Colt, Dayne and Kason, great-nephew Rowan, great-nieces Kinley and River, and special friends Cecil O’Farrell, Don and Kathy McNulty, and Gail Rogers.

A Graveside Celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3400 W 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
