Ernest Ray Llamas
1973 – 2026
Ernie (Ernest) Ray Llamas, 52, passed away on May 31, 2026, in Greeley, Colorado. Born on August 29, 1973, in Greeley, Ernie spent his life in the community where he was raised and deeply cherished.
Ernie was the beloved son of Leonard and Loretta Llamas and the grandson of Maria Martinez. He is also survived by his siblings - Leonard Llamas Jr., Dakota(Elisha) Llamas, Lorraine Llamas, Sasha(Alex) Cantu and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He was predeceased by his grandmother Geroldine Llamas, his brother Benny (Benjamin) Llamas, his sister Elisia Llamas, and his niece Melanie (Llamas) Camacho. Ernie’s family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with those he loved so dearly.
During his high school years, Ernie was a wrestler and a shining presence among his peers. His charisma and kindness earned him the title of prom king not once but twice—both in his junior and senior years. Surrounded by numerous friends, Ernie’s laughter and spirit were infectious. He dreamed of joining the Navy to see the world; however, an unfortunate motorcycle accident during his senior year altered the course of his life.
Despite this life-changing event, Ernie embraced life with resilience and joy. He found happiness in simple pleasures: taking long walks, savoring popsicles, reading his Bible for inspiration and guidance, and spending quality time with his father. Known for his humor and love of movies, Ernie had a knack for quoting movie lines at unexpected moments. His spontaneous quips would often lead to fits of giggles that were as contagious as they were heartwarming.
Ernie’s presence brought light to those around him—a light that will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. His memory will live on through the stories shared by those who knew him best.
May Ernie’s legacy bring comfort to all who loved him as they reflect on the joy he brought into their lives.
