Janet Ann Koeltzow

January 18, 1950 — May 2, 2026

Janet Ann Koeltzow (Janssen), 76, of Greeley, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born January 18, 1950, in Minden, Nebraska, to William “Bud” and Crystal (Day) Janssen.

Janet spent her early years on a farm alongside her parents and siblings before her family moved to Fort Lupton, Colorado. She graduated from Fort Lupton High School and attended Colorado State University before beginning her career as an administrative professional.

In 1969, Janet met the love of her life, Jim Koeltzow. They were married on November 27, 1971, and made their home in Greeley, where they built a life centered on family and those they loved. Together, they raised their two children, Jeff and Jenny.

Janet devoted her early years to raising her family, volunteering at her children’s schools and being actively involved in their lives. In 1987, she returned to the workforce, serving as an administrative professional with the Greeley-Evans School District at Heath Junior High and West High School for 15 years. She later worked at Aims Community College for 10 years before retiring.

Janet had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. She loved music from the 1950s and 60s and enjoyed trips to Black Hawk. She was an avid bowler for over 30 years and looked forward to Friday nights at the bowling alley. She also took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. Janet loved the outdoors—camping, four-wheeling, and exploring new places, especially with her brother Ivan and sister-in-law Karen.

She and Jim enjoyed many travels together, including road trips to South Dakota, California, and Oregon, as well as attending submarine reunions across the country. One of her greatest adventures was a two-month journey through Alaska and Canada with Jim, Ivan, and Karen, where they explored breathtaking landscapes, encountered wildlife, picked wild blackberries, and caught halibut—memories she cherished deeply.

Above all, Janet’s greatest joy was her family. Becoming a grandmother was one of the highlights of her life. She adored her granddaughters, Morgan and Alyssa, and treasured every moment spent with them.

Janet is survived by her husband Jim; children Jeff and Jenny; granddaughters Morgan and Alyssa; her brother Ivan (Karen); sisters Connie and Rita; brothers-in-law Marvin (Faye) and Tommy (Patti); and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Peggy.

Janet will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she created with those she loved.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Home, Greeley, CO, on May 22 at 2:00 p.m. Please join the family for an open house to honor and remember her.
