Judith Ann Daharsh

Judith Ann Daharsh, age 79, passed into the Lord’s presence on July 26, 2026, at CommonSpirit Longmont United Hospital in Longmont, Colorado.

 Judy was born November 29, 1946, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, the oldest of eight children born to Clayton and Lucille Angle. She was raised in a farming community in rural Pennsylvania. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. She served honorably and was discharged in 1970 from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, having attained the rank of First Lieutenant. While in San Antonio, she met Merle Dwight Daharsh.

 They were married on June 10, 1972, and soon began their family of seven. Together they lived in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Georgia before returning to Colorado in 1996. Throughout their years together, Judy and Merle (along with their daughter Rachel) served faithfully together in the Awana program at their church. Judy was a Registered Nurse for her entire career and worked to support her family until retiring to care for Merle as his health declined near the end of his life.

 Judy stayed by Merle’s side through his long battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia until his death in 2020. She then continued living in their home with their daughter Rachel until 2022. After Merle’s passing, she found learning, encouragement, friendship, and kindness through her involvement in Bible Study Fellowship. In 2022 a fall led to the discovery of a previously undiagnosed brain hematoma that had already begun affecting her cognition.

 The injury and subsequent decline led to a diagnosis of dementia. From 2022 until July 2026, she resided at New Mercer Commons in Fort Collins for memory care. In late June 2026, as her condition advanced, plans were made to move her to a new facility. The following day she was hospitalized as her cognitive and behavioral symptoms worsened. During July she entered the final stage of dementia and was placed under hospice care, where she passed quietly in her final week.

Judy was known to all who knew her as a devoted follower of Jesus and prodigious student of scripture, a loving wife and mother, a dedicated nurse, having a fun sense of humor and loving to laugh, and having a love for cooking.

She is survived by her three sons: John (Nancy) Daharsh, David (Becky) Daharsh, and Andrew (Miriam) Daharsh; two daughters: Kimberly (Dr. Dennis) Tweten and Rachel Daharsh; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother Clayton (Barb) Angle and sisters Carolyn Rodriguez, Shirley Ladowitz, Rose (Seth) Dasch, Jo Ellen (Larry) Malone and Lucinda (Mark) Myers, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Lucille Angle; her husband, Merle Dwight Daharsh; her sister Donna (Bill) Dinsmore; and by George Rodriguez and Mel Ladowitz.

 A memorial service will be held at Faith Church in Fort Collins, Colorado on Monday, August 10 at 11:00 AM.
