Linda Lois Yates

Jul 2, 1939 — Aug 5, 2026

Linda L. Yates, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great grandmother, and dear friend to many. Linda was known for her warm smile, gentle demeanor, and generosity.

Linda was born July 2, 1939 in Del Norte, Colorado, the daughter of Wendell and Mary Davis Fisher. Linda married James D. Yates on November 14, 1959 in Englewood, CO. Linda considered working at the Center Drugstore fountain counter as her favorite job and worked at the Del Norte Hospital in different departments. Later Linda worked at the Monte Vista and Ault Bank’s where she enjoyed getting to know customers and being involved in the community. Linda was very supportive of her boys school and sport activities, and served as the Eaton Booster Club treasurer and later as president. After retiring, Linda was heavily involved in her church, attending grandchildren activities and her extensive angel collection was admired by many. Linda and Jim traveled across New Mexico specifically the Navajo nation collecting authentic Navajo rugs, pottery and DeGrazia art.

During retirement, Jim and Linda, with the help of their children and grandchildren, built a home in Cheyenne, WY where they lived for 10 years before moving to Greeley, CO to be closer to their family. When Jim passed away in 2021, Linda moved to Fox Run Senior Living where she was involved in many activities, enjoyed friendships and hosting family holiday celebrations. Linda is survived by sons: James (Gwen) Yates, Jr., Marty (Jolene) Yates, Mark (Denise) Yates; grandchildren: Catherine (Jeremey) Lytle, Sean Yates, Andrea (Ben) Jones, Tylor (Ally) Yates; great grandchildren: Liam Lytle, Parker Yates, Arlo Jones, Presley Yates; siblings: Joyce (Bob) Rogers, Tom (Dana) Fisher; brother in law: Norman Slade. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, sister Janice and husband Jim.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, 10:00am at the Fox Run Senior Living Chapel. At a later date, internment will be at the Del Norte Cemetery next to Jim, beloved husband, for 61 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linda’s name to your charity of choice.
