Patricia Joanne Melton

Patricia “Joanne” Melton, 91, passed away August 14, 2026, at Garden Square Westlake of Greeley, CO in the presence of her loving daughter, Susan Skov.

Joanne Melton (Walker) was born June 18, 1935, in Lyman OK and grew up in Shidler OK and went to Shidler High and graduated in 1953. She married Joseph Stanley Melton, April 2, 1954, in Bartlesville, OK. To this union was born 3 children: Joseph Daniel Melton, June 1, 1955, at Bartlesville, OK; Tommy Warren Melton, May 27, 1957, at Fairfax, OK and Susan Athena Melton (Skov) July 17, 1964, at Ponca City OK.

Joanne had a love for music that spread everywhere she went. One of her favorite yearly traditions was to go back to her Shidler High Reunions. She did this every year clear up into her 80’s. She loved going back and playing and singing for the rallies they had before the games. Joanne played a few instruments: piano, accordion, clarinet, and harmonica. She played in the churches they attended, community events and even before she passed, she played for the residents at Garden Square Westlake, Monday August 10, 2026. Joanne loved to sing and harmonize with her favorite alto range. Her love for God, people and her community always followed her everywhere she went and no one was ever a stranger.

Joanne loved her family in ways that was expressed by action and not just words. She loved life and it spread all into her family. It was never a dull moment when Grandma Melton was around. Her love for music radiated from her and it was caught by all those who loved her dearly. She was one of a kind and the memories Joanne’s family holds in their hearts of her will never be forgotten.

Joanne is survived by her son, Joseph Melton and his wife, Marcia Melton, GA; son, Tom Melton and his wife Julie Melton, CO; daughter, Susan Skov and her husband, Terry Skov, CO; 8 grandchildren, Daniel Melton and his husband, Blake Bennett, OR, Clinton Melton and his wife, Jamie Melton, KS, Jessie “Cricket” Schmeling and her husband, Dereck Schmeling, KS, David Melton and his wife, Bethany Melton, CO, Leah Goodrich and her husband, John Goodrich, CO, Candace Kielian and her husband, Ryan Kielian, CO, Summer Lopez and her husband, Daniel Lopez, CO, John Skov and his wife, Chantae Skov, CO; 24 great grandchildren, Sebastian, Seth and Gabrielle Melton; Stella and Hazel Schmeling; Elijah, Norah, Hudson, Caroline and Malachi Melton; Ava, Billy and Mikey Goodrich; Oliver, Kylee, McKenzie, Bailey and Blake Kielian, Hailey, Kason and Brynlee Lopez; Serenity, Messiah and Oakley Skov.

Joanne is proceeded in death by her father and mother, Clinton & Sarah Walker; her brothers, Vern Walker, Gus Walker, Don Walker and Leo Walker, her sisters, Velma Carter and Maxine Algeo and Joanne’s loving husband, Stanley Melton.

Joanne’s celebration of life service is at 11:00 am Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley CO 80634.
