Scott Matthew Parrish

March 4, 1969 — May 11, 2026

Scott Matthew Parrish passed away peacefully in his home in Greeley, Colorado, on May 11, 2026.

Born on March 4, 1969, in Spangler, Pennsylvania, Scott developed an early fascination with computers and role-playing games—interests that shaped both his career and his lifelong hobbies. He built a distinguished professional life in computing, most recently working with CPP Wind Engineering Consultants of Windsor, Colorado, where one of his projects resulted in a patent.

Role playing and other games also remained a joy throughout his life. Scott played every Thursday evening with a close circle of friends who became a second family to him. Together they participated in an annual fund-raising marathon for Children’s Hospital of Denver.

Scott graduated from Rocky Mountain High School and attended Colorado State University, both in Fort Collins, Colorado, majoring in Engineering Science and Computer Science. He later served in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge as an E-3. During his service he attended Nuclear Field “A” School for Electronic Technicians, was Honor Man for Math Unit, and rated as Electronic Equipment Repairman.

Known for his gentle nature, curiosity, and love of learning, Scott read widely and enjoyed films and music. In high school he played French horn in the band and orchestra and was active in theatrical productions. His intellectual curiosity continued throughout his life; he often took online courses, most recently linguistics.

Scott is survived by his wife Tina, and her children Mark Velasco and wife Jina, Maria Velasco, husband Enrique Escobar and grandson Adrian Velasco; siblings Juli Parrish, Erin Parrish Dickson and husband Doug Dickson, and Meg Horvath and partner Berkley Hamilton; parents Jeanne and Joe Horvath, aunts and uncles and many cousins, and dear friend Chris Meier. Scott was preceded in death by his father Earl Parrish and grandparents Francis and Jane Parrish, Walter and Eileen Dumm, and Joseph and Rose Horvath; cousins Joe Parrish, Tina Lawrence, and Paul Lawrence; aunts Rosemary Lawrence, Lucille Parrish, and Lisa Parrish; and uncle Norman Urban.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, May 23rd, at 1283 Monaco Parkway (French Quarter Condominiums). Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to your local animal rescue, food bank, or children’s hospital.
