Theresa Henry-Hertneky

Theresa Henry passed away in Windsor, Colorado, on September 3, 2026, after a courageous eight-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a brain disorder similar to Parkinson’s disease. Our hearts are broken, but we find comfort in knowing she is free from suffering and at peace with our Lord.

Theresa was born on June 20, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Pauline and John Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Myrna Hertneky; and her dear friend, Blanche Livingston. She is survived by her husband, Bill Hertneky; stepchildren Christine (Chad) Smith of Chandler, Arizona, Kelly (Jesse) Sevier of Cheyenne, WY, and Nik (Meredith) Hertneky of Greeley, CO; grandsons Henry and Harrison Sevier, Rogan and Nolan Smith, and Eddie Hertneky; sisters Barb (Michael) Orness and Janice Everson; nephews Ben (Angie) Everson, Hunter (Alison) Orness, and Nick Everson; sisters-in-law Kathy Hertneky and Peggy (Terry) Chambers; brother-in-law Chris (Don) Hertneky; father-in-law Kenny Hertneky; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Iowa and Wisconsin.

Theresa treasured time with her family, especially sharing her love with her five grandsons, who will deeply miss their “Grandma T.” She also enjoyed traveling to Estes Park and Playa del Carmen, Mexico, as well as taking river cruises throughout Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.

A devoted Christian, Theresa began each morning with prayer, a daily devotional, and Bible reading. She had a lifelong passion for helping others and was deeply caring and generous. Her community service included Generations Church, where she served as a board member and volunteer, as well as board positions with Leanna’s Closet, the Windsor Community Foundation, the Weld Community Foundation, and the Northern CO American Cancer Society (ACS). In 2015, Theresa and Bill co-chaired the ACS Cattle Barons Ball, where she enlisting many friends to help produce this all-volunteer event. She later established a scholarship through the Weld Community Foundation to help Colorado students further their education. Reflecting her values, the scholarship supports first-generation students and emphasizes community service and civic involvement rather than the customary high-GPA requirement.
