Lawrence Wendel Stark

Lawrence (Larry) Wendel Stark, age 92, died peacefully at home on April 17, 2026, in Alexandria, VA.
Born on May 4, 1933, in Redwing, MN, Larry was the eldest child of Lawrence J. and Hazel Stark. His family later moved to the south side of Chicago where he attended Calumet High School and later Loyola College. His life of service began when he enlisted in the army serving as a communication technician in Japan during the war in Korea and continued through his long career supporting telecommunication in the US Department of State.
While stationed in Washington, D.C., he met the love of his life, Kathleen Norris with whom he shared a marriage of 62 years.
Upon retirement, he devoted much of his time volunteering at his church, St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church in Annandale, where he served as Junior Warden on the vestry.
A beloved husband, sibling, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Kathleen, sister Jerri-Lynn Webber and brother Joel Stark. He was also blessed with three children Alyce, Laura (Jon) , Michael (Shannon) and four grandchildren: Sydney, Alexandra, Connor, and Emma Rose.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 1 PM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Annandale, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Barnabas Church.
