Robert Eugene Richardson Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Eugene Richardson, Jr., aged 81, who passed into eternal love on November 21, 2025, in Virginia.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 15, 1944, Robert was raised in Marietta, Ohio. Robert attended Marietta College and earned a degree in English from Ohio University. He served in the United States Navy as a photographer, including Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. His career included work within the film and television industry in Auckland, New Zealand, followed by a role in video production at Riverside Productions in Marietta, Ohio, and later work at Richardson Printing.

Known for his easygoing demeanor and adventurous spirit, Robert approached life and its challenges with a friendly, loving, and calm presence. He found joy in travel, meditation, mushroom hunting, classic cars, mountain biking, jazz, art, snow tubing, sushi, and laughing with friends and family. A lifelong SUBUD member and active in the Mankind Project, he also enjoyed drumming circles with his youngest son, Zach. He was deeply spiritual and captivated by the mysteries of the universe.

Robert is survived by his former wives, Cei Richardson and Susan Pointon; his children, Lee Richardson (Jen), Aidan Neeson, Gary Kaczmarek (Anja), and Angelique Kaczmarek; his grandchildren, Alex Hill and Emma (Ari) Richardson; his siblings, June Rough, Ann (Denny) Valentine, and David (Pam) Richardson; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Robert's life will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, located at 232 3rd St, Marietta, Ohio, on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 4 PM, with reception to follow. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Evelyn Denny; his father, Robert Eugene Richardson; his stepmother, Virginia Richardson; his wife, Ida Richardson; and his son, Zach Richardson.

Robert Eugene Richardson, Jr. leaves behind cherished memories that his family and friends will hold dear. His legacy of kindness, curiosity, and adventurous spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
