In Loving Memory of June Hazel Bacchus

June Hazel Bacchus, age 70, of Riverdale, Maryland, peacefully passed away on afternoon of August 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her children.

June was born on June 7, 1956, in De Willem, on the West Coast of Demerara, Guyana, to Egerton “Specko” Bacchus and Hyacinth “Cinty” Keiler Bacchus. June spent her early childhood on the West Coast of Demerara until 1964. Her later childhood and teenage years were spent in Buxton, East Coast of Demerara.

As a young adult, June lived in Linden, Upper Demerara, Guyana, where she worked as a teacher for several years. Her passion for teaching came from her genuine love of helping others and contributing to the growth and future of the next generation. Helping others remained an important and meaningful part of her life.

In 2000, June relocated to the United States, where she continued her career in education and taught at an Elementary School. After her years of teaching, June began her nursing career, bringing with her the same compassion, dedication, patience, and commitment to helping others that had defined her work as an educator. Her childhood dream was to become a nurse, as a nurse, she continued to touch lives, care for others, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her.

June was known for her kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, sense of humor, and strong work ethic. She had a warm and loving spirit and brought laughter and joy wherever she went. She enjoyed reading, writing, cooking, playing dominoes, dancing, and, most of all, spending cherished time with family and friends.

June leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of her children, family, and all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Tevon Caleb (son), Sarah Caleb (daughter-in-law), Tanisha Davis (daughter), and Torren Davis (son-in-law); grandchildren, Lauren Caleb and Aspen Davis; her mother, Hyacinth “Cinty” Keiler Bacchus; siblings, Rudolph Keiler, Carol Bacchus Herod, Joy Bacchus Daniels, Donna Bacchus Benfield, and Stokley Bacchus; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law, extended family members, and dear friends.

June was preceded in death by her father, Egerton “Specko” Bacchus, and her siblings; Everton “Tony” Keiler, Paulette Bacchus, Lindon “Victor” Bacchus, Leroy Everton McPherson, Godfrey McPherson, Joyce McPherson Williams, Aubrey Spencer, Phillip “Abbo” Spencer, and Oswald Spencer, along with other loved ones who passed before her.

She will be laid to rest with beloved father in Guyana. Service in Guyana will be held on September 26th, 2026 at 2:00PM at St. Augustine's Anglican Church Friendship-Buxton, East Coast of Demerara, Guyana. Followed by a burial at Buxton cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time. Your love and compassion have brought great comfort.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that June’s love, wisdom, laughter, humor and beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew and loved Her. Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.
