Samuel Nelson McPherson

Born in Beatrice, Nebraska Sam graduated from Southeast High School in Lincoln, NE. He joined the Air National Guard and reviewed photo intelligence and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1976.

After graduating from the University of Nebraska with his Masters Degree in Business he worked for several nationally known companies including Frito-Lay(Omaha, NE, & Dallas, TX), LeeWay Motor Freight (Oklahoma City, OK), Sun Diamond in Pleasanton and Raley’s in West Sacramento. He was recruited to Charlotte, North Carolina to Family Dollar where he retired in 2005. As Vice President of Human Resources Sam strived to hire qualified women and minorities as many of his managers were women.

Sam loved computers having taken Fortran as his foreign language in college. Just give him anything techy or any gadgets.

He was an avid 49ers fan and deeply enjoyed his family.

Sam and his wife of 58 years, Mary, were active in the Sun City Lincoln Hills Sports Car Group for many years with his beloved Porsche Carrera Cabriolet 911.

Sam is survived by wife Mary Heckman McPherson; daughter, Heather McPherson (Kevin See); son, Lance McPherson (Amber McPherson); grandchildren, Reese McPherson, Kaitlyn See, Kesler McPherson and Kaden See; sisters, Melodee Landis and Carol Carlson, their husbands and extended families.
