Sandra Porter

Sandra Porter passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born in Panama City, Florida, on October 15, 1947. Sandra was a fifth-generation Floridian, with family roots reaching back to the 1830s.

Sandra was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Arthurine Wilson. She is survived by her son, Paul Porter and two grandsons, Connor and Brandon; two sisters, Susan (Gene) Hinson and Naomi (Billy) Sherman, and a brother, Butch (Glenda) Wilson, along with her surviving aunt, Patricia Chancy, Sandra also had many nieces, nephews and cousins that she dearly loved.

She spent many happy years growing up in South Bay, Florida. Sandra graduated from Belle Glade High School in 1965. After graduation, she attended Jones Business College. Later, Sandra married and started her family, making her home in Lake Worth, where she held a long career with the Palm Beach County School District. Upon retiring, she returned to the Glades and resided in Clewiston.

Sandra had many interests and talents. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, sewing, and crafts. She became an accomplished seamstress and used her talent to make suits and outfits for her son.

Although Sandra was a Florida girl through and through, her heart was always drawn to the mountains. It was there, surrounded by the quiet beauty, that she seemed most at peace. One of her lifelong dreams was to purchase an RV and travel throughout the Smoky and Rocky Mountains, taking in the scenery, while enjoying the areas that she loved so much.

Sandra also had a special heart for animals. Throughout her adult life, she was rarely without two or three dogs by her side. Sandra’s life became centered around her most devoted companions, her German Shepherds, which she called her “babies.” The extraordinary love and care that Sandra gave to these babies enabled them to live long lives, one stayed with her for 17 years.

Sandra will be remembered by her fierce, independent nature; she valued doing things for herself. In her later years of life, Sandra made what she considered the most important decision of all - she placed her trust and faith fully in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. In the weeks prior to her death, Sandra spoke about the love and peace that her faith had brought into her life.

While she will be deeply loved and missed, her family has much comfort in knowing that the peace she spoke of in her final weeks has now led her home to Heaven.

A celebration of life for Sandra will take place at the Evangel Assembly of God on Monday, August 31st at 1 pm.
