Vernon Eugene “Vern” Sullivan, born July 17, 1959, in Clewiston, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, in his hometown, surrounded by loving care. Vern’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness leave a profound legacy in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
He will be remembered for his determination, work ethic, love of family, and unforgettable sense of humor. He was an avid reader and a lifelong student of history. He had a passion for learning and never lost his curiosity about the world around him. He was preceded in death by:
Mother: Mary Alice Moore Father: Lester Eugene Sullivan 2 brothers: John Dutton and Rusty Dutton
He loved spending time outdoors, gardening, listening to music, and sharing stories with those he loved. He had an infectious laugh that could make anyone around him smile and a playful personality that brought joy to family and friends alike.
Above all, he was a devoted father and proud Papa who never stopped believing in his children and grandchildren. His strength, loyalty, generosity, and love for his family will be remembered always.
He worked for US Sugar’s railroad division. When he retired he was an Operations Supervisor. Vern is survived by his Significant Other and Mother of his Children – Brenda Sullivan, Sons: Jacob Sullivan and Vernon Matthew Sullivan, Grandchildren: Scarlett Sullivan, Jaxson Sullivan, and Violet Sullivan, Sisters: Janice Busbee, Patsy Davis, Deborah Mullis, and Patty Mitten.
He shared a lifelong bond with Brenda Sullivan, with whom he was married for 19 years and raised 2 children. Though life took them in different directions for a period of time, they eventually found their way back to one another and spend the last 10 years side by side. Their story was a testament to enduring love and the importance of family. He was Passionate, Determined, Devoted, Curious, and Resilient.
A Celebration of Life to honor Vernon Eugene Sullivan will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Clewiston, located at 102 East Ventura Avenue, Clewiston, FL 33440. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Vern’s life are invited to gather and remember a man whose legacy is marked by love and dignity.
Vern’s journey on earth has come to a close, but the warmth of his memory and the lessons of his life remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
