Brigitte "Babbie" Yolanda Brent
Nov 25, 1960 — Jun 22, 2026
Brigitte Yolanda Brent was born on November 25, 1960, in Washington, D.C. She was affectionately known as "Babbie" by her close friends and family. After graduating from Ballou High School, she enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1979.
During her 24 years of active military service, Brigitte's tours of duty took her to Germany, Texas, Georgia, Italy, and finally Fort Carson, Colorado. She served as a Radio and Communications Security Specialist and Retention NCO, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) before being honorably discharged in 2003.
Throughout her distinguished military career, she received numerous honors and awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal, in recognition of her exemplary service and dedication to her country.
Following her military retirement, Brigitte remained in Fountain, Colorado, where she began her second career as a fourth-grade teacher at Twain Elementary School in Colorado Springs. She faithfully served her students until her retirement in 2023.
In retirement, Brigitte embraced her love of travel and found great joy in caring for her beloved dogs and cats—Papi, Rosie, Coco, Bambi, and Peebles—who brought her endless companionship and happiness.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, Brigitte peacefully transitioned into eternal rest.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Tiara D. Ballard; her mother, Barbara A. Pendleton; her brothers, Leland Brent, Jr. (Markeela) and Jeffrey S. Parker; her sister, Vicki Lee Parker-High (Reginald); her nieces, Vicki Brent, Sitara Brent, Leiyla Brent, and Rian Parker; and her nephew, Christian Parker, along with many extended family members, friends, former students, and colleagues whose lives she touched.
