Dorothy Pickoff

Dorothy Josephine Gregory Pickoff, Jo, as she was fondly known, departed this earth on February 16, 2026 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jo was born in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England on August 30, 1927 to Dorothy Valentine Gregory and Joseph Hartley Gregory. 

At the age of 17 she met the love of her life, a Yank, Julius Pickoff, in Edinburgh, Scotland while at a tea dance with her friends. Julius was there on furlough from his duties in the Army Air Corps as a group bombardier and navigator on a B-17 during World War II. They danced the night away and knew shortly thereafter that their lives were meant to be spent together. They married in England, and after the war Josie sailed to the USA and began her life as the wife of an Air Force officer. 

Jo reveled in her life as an officer’s wife, traveling the world, hosting parties and raising her three rambunctious and adventurous daughters, Christine, Jill, and Jennifer. She returned to England at least yearly to see her parents and friends, often taking her daughters with her for the adventure. 

After Julius’ retirement, Jo sold real estate for a while, played golf and bridge, and continued to travel the world with Julius. They settled in Perry Park, Colorado in 1972, where she continued to live after Julius’ death. She continued to travel the world enjoying educational tours with friends until her move to Liberty Heights in 2017. 

Jo was fun loving, adventurous, loved to sing and recite poetry, and loved classical music and art. She was an ever curious woman who sought out friends who enriched her knowledge and love of a good conversation and adventure.Her family and friends will miss her wit and kindness greatly.

Jo was predeceased by: her husband Julius; her daughter, Jill; her brother, Keith; and her son in law, Scott. She is survived by: her daughters Christine and Jennifer; her son in law, Bob; grandchildren Patrick and his wife Michelle, Hayley, and Amanda and her husband Spencer; her great grandchildren Kaden Coleman and Elwood and Doone McGregor.
