Felicia "Lisa" Marie Apodaca

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Felicia Marie Apodaca, lovingly known to nearly everyone simply as Lisa, who passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at 3:50 p.m., at the age of 64.

Felicia Marie Percy was born on February 27, 1962, in Denver, Colorado, to her mother, Judith. She was adopted by her father, Edward Apodaca, in Sindelfingen, Germany, becoming Felicia Marie Apodaca.

Growing up, one of Lisa's greatest blessings was the friendship she shared with her younger brother, Gordon Apodaca. They weren't just siblings—they were best friends.

If you knew Lisa, you knew her smile. It was absolutely contagious. She had a beautiful way of making people feel welcomed, accepted, and loved. She could brighten a room without ever trying.

For more than 27 years, Lisa devoted her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Caring for the elderly wasn't just her job—it was her calling. She treated every resident like family, making sure they were cared for with dignity, compassion, and love. She left her mark everywhere she worked, and the people she cared for loved her just as much as she loved them.

Lisa never needed fancy things to be happy; she found joy in life's simple moments. She loved spending time at the park, tending to her ever-growing collection of plants, enjoying a hot cup of coffee or an ice-cold Pepsi, and relaxing with a good bong hit! That was Lisa—she had a beautiful gift for making a little feel like more than enough. Her home was never complete without plants in the windows, dogs curled up on her lap, and a Pepsi close by.

Her love for animals was endless. Her dogs were never "just pets"—they were family. We find comfort knowing she has been reunited with her beloved Lalo Chaska, while Malin Mazoo misses her every day. They truly were inseparable. She also loved her bird, Skittles, who filled her home with even more life and happiness.

Lisa had a true green thumb. She could make almost anything grow, and every home she lived in had a special place dedicated to her plants. Watching them thrive brought her peace. If you ever want to honor Lisa's memory, plant something beautiful and preferably purple 💜. Every new leaf and every new bloom would make her smile.

She also loved colorful tattoos because they reflected exactly who she was—vibrant, unique, and full of life. Every tattoo told part of her story. The next time you see a bright, colorful tattoo, think of Lisa and smile.

She knew when life called for strength and when someone needed a soft heart, and she never apologized for letting her stubborn side shine through. She stood her ground when she believed in something, loved fiercely, and remained unapologetically herself.

Lisa shared over three decades of life with Wesley New, beginning their journey together in 1985 and remaining married until 2016.

Above everything else, Lisa loved her family.

She is dearly loved and survived by her loving mother, Judith of Westcliff, CO; brother Gordon (Laura ) Apodaca; children: Shaun Allen Scott (Melinda), Hugh Gordon Scott (Devon), and Lyndsey Marie Caldwell, many beloved grandchildren, including a special bond with her grandson Nathan Marquez, whom she helped raise; and many cherished extended family and friends.

Trying to explain Lisa to someone who never met her isn't easy. She had her own way of doing just about everything, and that's exactly what made her so special. She lived life on her own terms, loved deeply, laughed often, and left every person she met with a story to tell.

Those who knew and loved her will forever hear her voice in some of her favorite sayings: “Alrighty then!” and, most especially, “I love you with all my heart and soul. More and more every day.”

Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the love she gave so freely, the lessons she taught, the strength she exhibited always, the lives she touched so deeply, and the memories she leaves behind.
