Kevin Lee Johnson

Kevin Lee Johnson a resident of Aurora, Colorado since 2022 passed away suddenly on Friday, May 15, 2026. He was self-employed doing lawn care and seasonal work.

Kevin was born on Wednesday, October 18, 1972, on March Air Force Base (AFB) in Sacramento, California to the late Major Jessie L. Johnson and Portia Angelica (Mayers) Johnson. He was a graduate of Rampart High School and spent some time at both the University of Southern California and the University of Colorado at Boulder. Kevin was married to Laura Jean Gerard for 15 years and they had three beautiful children Turner, Quincy and Olivia, who all recently graduated college with honors. Kevin and Laura divorced in 2016.

He had a passion for camping and being outdoors with his family and their dogs George, Brooks and Yoda. He was a stylish dresser and an avid athletic shoe collector and enjoyed thrifting for clothing and shoes. Kevin was a sports enthusiast and loved watching, and playing in his youth, baseball, basketball and football. He loved good food, especially home cooking and grilling!

Kevin is survived by his children Turner Johnson, Olivia Johnson and Quincy Johnson and his sister Anthea Johnson Rooen (husband, Nathan) and niece Leanna Rooen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie L. Johnson and Portia A. Johnson.

The family will hold a small private memorial to celebrate his life, in September 2026. His ashes will be sprinkled in the Colorado mountains where he will become one with the nature and outdoors that he loved so much.

Kevin was charming and captivating to those around him. He will be remembered for his hilarious sense of humor, infectious laugh, sharp wit, as well as his love of animals. His children were his heart. He encouraged them to be courageous and grateful for their blessings. His family loved him very much, and will miss him dearly.
