In Loving Memory of Rose Saponara Arvin

Rose Saponara Arvin was a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, dedication, and an unwavering belief in the potential of others.

Born in Butte, Montana, Rose grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later attended the University of Nevada, Reno. Her greatest calling was teaching. For more than 42 years, Rose devoted herself to educating young children, primarily through Denver Public Schools. She especially cherished her years teaching kindergarten and first grade, where she helped give children their first experiences with learning and discovery.

Rose didn’t simply teach children—she touched their lives. She loved children deeply and brought patience, warmth, encouragement, and joy into her classroom every day. She had a remarkable ability to make children feel valued and capable, and her influence continued long after her students left her classroom. The many young lives she shaped are part of the lasting legacy she leaves behind.

Rose also had a deep love for nature and gardening. She possessed a truly remarkable green thumb and seemed to have a special gift for making anything she planted flourish. Flowers and plants thrived under her care, much as the children she taught flourished under her guidance. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit—a place of beauty, life, and love.

Above all, Rose treasured her family. She was a devoted mother to her son, Michael F. Arvin, and her daughter, Dana M. Arvin. She was a beloved grandmother to Whitney M. Pesavento and Captain Ian A. Navarro, who brought her immense pride and joy. The love she shared with her family will remain a cherished part of their lives and memories.

Rose will be deeply missed by her family, friends, neighbors, former students, and the many people fortunate enough to have known her. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her legacy lives on—in the children she taught, the garden she nurtured, the family she loved, and the countless lives she made a little brighter.

She will be remembered not only for what she accomplished, but for who she was: a caring teacher, a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted friend, and a woman who gave generously of herself to others.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 9905 Foothills Canyon Blvd., Highlands Ranch, CO 80129.
