Joe Ruiz Fonceca of Mathis, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love and memories of his family and community.

Joe was the beloved son of Jose and Salud Fonceca. He graduated from Ramona High School in Riverside, California, and throughout his life was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

His career included working as a cook, owning and operating a pool-cleaning business, delivering linens, serving as a building engineer, and working in building security for Jefferson County Public Schools.

Joe was a member of Spirit of Christ Catholic Church, where his faith and connection to his community were an important part of his life.

Above all, Joe cherished his family. He leaves behind his loving family, his wife Lupe Fonceca, daughter Dolores (Troy) Turner, daughter Maxine (Charles) Carden, and daughter Lucy Fonceca. He was a proud grandfather to BJ Carden, Amanda Carden (Landon Wood), and Joshuwa Cameron.

Joe is also survived by his siblings; Margarita Philp, Lydia Davis, Mary Fonseca, and Mini Fonceca.

Joe was proceeded in death by; Ramon Fonseca, Carmen Armesto, Mary Flores, Jesse Fonceca, Trini Lerma, Pauline Contreras, Angelina Manzano, Dolores Fonceca, Lupe Fonceca, and Jon Fonceca.

Joe will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his willingness to help others, his love for his family, and his generosity towards others. He had a way of bringing strength, warmth, and kindness to those around him. His presence touched the lives of many, and the memories he created with his family and community will be treasured for generations to come.

Joe will be deeply missed, but he will be forever loved and remembered. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the people he helped, and the many lives made better by knowing him.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of Joe’s family, friends, church community, and loved ones for their prayers, support, kindness, and love during this time.

May Joe Ruiz Fonceca rest in eternal peace.
