Kathryn "Jean" Tweed

Kathryn 'Jean' Tweed, 77, passed away in Lakewood, Colorado on January 17, 2026. Jean was the third of eight children born to Helen Kirkwood Cook and Richard Paul Cook in Boone, Iowa. Jean had a Norman Rockwell childhood in this small Iowa town where she attended Sacred Heart and Ryan High School. She was frequently on the honor roll, played the organ at church, participated in speech, choir, pep club and was prom queen.

Jean went on to attend Boone Junior College where she met her husband, Dan Tweed. They married on August 17, 1968, at Sacred Heart Church in Boone, Iowa. They had two amazing sons, Sean and Aaron, moved several times, Ames, Iowa, Maryland, and eventually arrived in Colorado. Jean and Dan went separate ways, but Jean, Sean and Aaron stayed in Colorado. Jean worked in secretarial, accounting and help desk roles throughout her career. Her last position before retiring was with JeffCo Public Schools in Colorado.

Jean is survived by her sons Sean (Kristina) Tweed and Aaron Tweed; granddaughters Allie and Jessie; grandsons Ian (Bailey) and Dylan; and great granddaughter Evelyn. She is also survived by seven siblings, John (Jane) Cook, Judy (Dick) Lamb, Jim (Anita) Cook, Jo Cook, Jeff (Beth) Cook, Janet (Lloyd) Hartje, Julie (Joe) Spiess and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband, and two beautiful grandsons, Ryan and Gavin.

A memorial service will be held in the spring or summer in Iowa. Jean was a beautiful, talented, fun-loving soul. Please post any memories of special moments you and Jean shared. She will be missed by all who knew her.
