It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mark William Longale, whose life was defined by service, compassion, adventure, and love for people and animals.

Mark was born on July 2, 1963, at the U.S. Army Hospital (USAH) in Croix Chapeau, France, to William Ralph Longale and Mary Eleanor Longale. From the beginning, his life was intertwined with military service, a calling that would later shape both his career and his character.

In 1985, Mark entered the United States Army in San Antonio, Texas, serving as a Private First-Class Medical Specialist. During his military career, he established himself through dedication and professionalism. The highlight of his military career was being selected as Fitzsimons Soldier of the Year in February of 1990. He was honorably discharged in 1991, leaving behind a proud record of faithful service to his country.

Inspired by his experiences as an Army medic, Mark pursued a career in nursing and became a Registered Nurse. He devoted his professional life to caring for others, serving patients throughout Colorado with skill, kindness, and genuine compassion. His colleagues admired his steady presence, and his patients found comfort in his thoughtful care. Mark ultimately found his professional home at Boulder Community Health, where his dedication and warmth touched countless lives.

Outside of his profession, Mark embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He found joy in traveling, road trips, hiking, camping, and exploring the beauty of the outdoors. An avid photographer, he had a gift for capturing meaningful moments and the natural world through his lens.

Mark's compassion extended well beyond his work. A devoted volunteer with Small Senior Paws Retirement Village, he gave generously of his time to care for senior dogs while also holding a special place in his heart for cats. Throughout his life, he shared an extraordinary bond with the many beloved kitties who were part of his family. His love for animals reflected the kindness and gentleness that defined him.

Mark is lovingly survived by his spouse, Karen Haldaman; his cherished fur-babies, Binford and Bixby; and many family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Mark's legacy is one of service, generosity, and compassion. He believed deeply in caring for others, whether they walked on two legs or four. In honor of his life, his family hopes that others will carry forward his spirit by showing kindness, supporting those in need, volunteering in their communities, and donating to causes that make a meaningful difference.

Though he will be profoundly missed, Mark's kindness, dedication, and love will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Mark was laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on July 27, 2026.
