Dwight Hurst

May 3, 1964 — May 8, 2026

Dwight “Waldo” Hurst, age 62, entered into rest on May 8, 2026, just days after celebrating his birthday. He was born on May 3, 1964, in Montgomery to Ike Hurst and Janie Mae (White) Hurst.

Also nicknamed Waldo Kitty Pepper, Dwight attended John F. Kennedy High School, where he later received his automotive certification and went on to become a skilled master mechanic. He also worked as a Route Service Representative for Cintas, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Waldo had a deep love for cars, especially his beloved Mitsubishi Eclipse. He enjoyed drawing, listening to music, collecting hundreds of vinyl records, and watching science fiction and British television shows. Dwight loved deep conversations about a variety of topics including aliens, star trek, and gave great advice. He had a memorable sense of humor and often reminded those around him, “No one makes it out of here alive,” a quote his family and friends will always remember hearing from him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Janie Mae (White) Hurst and Ike Hurst; his brothers, James Hurst, Leon Hurst; and his sisters, Christine Hurst, Ann Hurst, Annie Lois Hurst.

Waldo is survived by his siblings, Wanda Hurst, Annie Hurst, Dorothy Hurst, and Ike Hurst (Rose); his children, Tiffany Smith and Sidney Graf; and his nieces and nephews, Gary Turner, Avinace Madison, Dominque Adams, and Catino Adams, along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Waldo will be remembered for his intelligence, creativity, humor, and the love he had for his family, music, and the things that brought him joy. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
