Mary Dianne Michels, beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully in Lakewood, Colorado, on November 16, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born in Beulah, Colorado, to Francis L. Holt and Edna P. Robinson, Mary lived a life full of faith, love, and dedication to others. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Colorado State College of Education and worked as a second-grade teacher, sharing her passion for learning and reading with countless children. In addition to teaching, she devoted herself to farming, art, and gardening, bringing beauty and life to every space she touched.
Mary married the love of her life, Gary Chiacchio, on February 14, 2006. In her spiritual journey, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 29, 2025, holding close to her heart the verse John 3:16: “God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him would not be destroyed but have everlasting life.”
Mary lived in California, Idaho, and Colorado and is remembered for her infectious smile, joyful laugh, and a heart that radiated love for children. She leaves behind cherished family members including her devoted spouse, Gary Chiacchio; her step-daughter, Robyn Nelson; daughter-in-law, Paula Coronado; and her niece, Lynn Mead, among other beloved relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her children, Benjamin Michels and Kevin Michels
A memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 13607 West 8th Ave, Golden, CO 80401, on December 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Mr. Brent Johnson. A reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the same location.
Mary’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touche
