Rebecca Claire Scanga

Rebecca Claire Scanga left her earthly body and entered into glory with 
her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 15, 2026.

Rebecca was born on January 14, 1970, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado,
to Samuel and Anita Scanga. She attended school in Craig, Colorado,
and graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 1988. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado in
1992.

From an early age, Rebecca dreamed of helping and healing others through medicine, a calling
that led her into the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Along that journey, she met the love
of her life, Robert Montoya, while attending an EMT class. Rebecca and Robert were married on
July 24, 1993, and remained devoted partners for more than 33 years, faithfully by each other's
side until the very end.

Together, they made their first home in southwest Denver before moving to Elizabeth, where
they built their home and raised their beloved daughters, Megan and Madison, along with
numerous dogs and cats, and, more recently, a newfound love of horses.

Rebecca began her professional career in pharmaceutical manufacturing quality assurance.
Through her natural leadership, exceptional work ethic, and unwavering determination, she
quickly transitioned into research, where she discovered her true calling: developing therapies
that improved and enriched the lives of others. Rebecca recently completed 28 years of service
with Bristol Myers Squibb as a Clinical Operations Business Lead and was looking forward to
new opportunities working with her European team. Her leadership and contributions to
groundbreaking therapies have helped improve and extend the lives of countless people around
the world, a lasting testament to her desire to serve humanity and care for others.

Of all her accomplishments, Rebecca's greatest joy was being a mother to her two beautiful
daughters, Megan and Madison. She was deeply involved in every aspect of their lives,
supporting their activities in 4-H, gymnastics, and rodeo royalty. She devoted countless hours to
helping not only her daughters, but also their teammates and organizations become champions
both in competition and in life. Though she was known for her attention to detail, she also
possessed a deeply competitive spirit and a remarkable ability to bring out the best in others.
Those qualities became part of the legacy she leaves behind in her daughters and in everyone
whose lives she touched.

Rebecca was taken from us far too soon, during what should have been some of the most
treasured years of her earthly life. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family,
supporting their activities, and traveling together, especially to the beautiful beaches of Mexico.

While we will miss her dearly on earth, we find comfort in knowing that her strong faith in Jesus
Christ has welcomed her home into the presence of the Lord. There, she is joyfully reunited with
her parents, Sam ("Papa") and Anita ("Turtle"), as well as many beloved family members and
friends who preceded her, and we will be reunited with her there for eternity.

Rebecca leaves behind a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her, including her
devoted husband, Robert Montoya; daughters, Megan and Madison Montoya; sister, Lisa Scanga
of Poncha Springs, Colorado; brother, John (Chauna) Scanga of Ault, Colorado; and nephews
Sam Scanga, Ian Scanga, and Ben Hatfield.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Candice Crisafulli of Palm Springs, California; sister-
in-law, Angela Harris of Orange County, California; brother-in-law, John Montoya of Pahrump,
Nevada; niece Amanda Harris; and nephews Brandon Harris and Preston Montoya.

A celebration of Rebecca's life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at
The Crossroads Community Church, 9900 S Twenty Mile Road, Parker, Colorado.
