Robert Charles Peterson

After a long battle with cancer, Robert (Bob) Peterson, 68, passed away on September 8, 2026.

Bob was born in St Ignace, Michigan on February 6, 1958 to Calvin and Genevieve Peterson.

His dad was in the Air Force so during the first few years of his life, he moved to various places,

including Denver. His dad was finally stationed at KI Sawyer AFB in Michigan where Bob grew

up and attended most of his school years. When he was 15, his dad retired and they moved to

Cresco, Iowa, the town Bob has always considered his hometown.

At 17, while still a junior in high school, Bob joined the Army as a Nuclear Disarmament

Specialist. He later transitioned to the Air Force, serving as an Instrument Repair Specialist. His

time in the military brought him to Stuttgart, Germany and later Ellsworth, South Dakota where

his wife Cindy picked him up in a bar! After 6 weeks, they were married at Chapel in the Hills in

Rapid City, South Dakota. Following a year of marriage, they welcomed their first child, Robert

(Rob) into the family and soon after were stationed at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge in England,

where daughter, Tevia, was born.

During his time in the military, Bob worked on airplanes (specifically B52 Bombers and A10

airplanes) repairing all the instruments a pilot would use. After being honorably discharged from

service in 1986, Bob transitioned to Continental Airlines, which eventually brought him and his

family to Colorado. Bob remained with Continental Airlines until 1997, and thereafter achieved

his lifelong desire to become a law enforcement officer. He served as a reserve officer for the

Aurora Police Department and Lakeside Police Department, and a transport officer for the

Aurora Detention Center. He retired in 2018.

After retirement, Bob spent time doing things he loved. One of his favorite activities was playing

games with his family, specifically Ticket to Ride, Wheel of Fortune, Mystic Vale,

Phasmophobia, and Minecraft. His favorite way to spend time with his mom was to play the card

game Spite and Malice. He also enjoyed fishing and doing puzzles, and loved to cuddle with his

cat, Midna.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Peterson, his sister, Susan Stone, and his brother

James (Jim) Peterson. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cindy, his son, Robert (Rob), his

daughter Tevia (Mark) Cox, granddaughters Addison, Caley, and Freya, his mother Genevieve

Peterson, and his sister Anne (Gary) Landswerk.

Services will take place on Friday, October the 2nd at 2 PM at Resurrection Anglican

Fellowship, 9250 East Belleview Avenue, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80111
