Vera Igou, 90 years young, walked into the arms of Jesus on August 8, 2026

Born on May 29, 1936 in Millersburg, Indiana, Vera was the ultimate force of nature. She never let grass grow under her feet, building a legendary work history that was as colorful as her spirit. Over the years, she managed offices, worked as an executive assistant, co-owned an ornamental iron business and a janitorial service, waited tables, and poured drinks for country music icons. She even hit the state fair and carnival circuits—selling jewelry fashioned from horseshoe nails, piercing ears for the Hells Angels, and slinging nachos, all with the exact same vibrant enthusiasm she brought to everything she touched.

Vera was a woman who truly loved to live. She was happiest when spending time with her family, sharing holiday meals, drinking wine, gambling, laughing, and passing down her love of anything crafty. Her passion for tackling a 1,000-piece puzzle lives on in everyone who ever sat at her table, and her famous birdhouses will continue to grace the Wolhurst Park as a lasting tribute to both her and her husband, Paul.

When she wasn't camping, fishing, or chasing the ever-elusive giant catfish, Vera was a formidable opponent at the table. She played in more pinochle groups than her family can count, never turned down a card or board game, and reserved her deepest competitive passion for bingo and her weekly poker games with friends.

Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul; her parents, Daniel and Susie Eash; her brothers, Ora and Orvin; and her sisters, Kathleen, Lorene, and Mabel. As the last of her generation, she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love.

She is survived by her children, Teresa (Mark) and Cory; three grandchildren, Tori (Harrison) (32), Dustin (Alex) (30), and CJ (26); two great-grandchildren, Ava (9) and Maya (2); along with a whole army of cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Services & Celebration

· Funeral Service: Friday, August 28, 2026, at 9:00 AM sharp at Ft. Logan National Cemetery (4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, CO 80236, Staging Area Blue, Officiated by Pastor Bear Deardorff.

· Celebration of Life: Friday, August 28, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the Wolhurst Club House (8201 South Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO).

To honor Vera’s bright, feisty, and warm-hearted soul, guests are encouraged to show up in their finest “Vera attire”—bright colors, Denver Broncos gear, your boldest matching costume jewelry, and, of course, a fabulous hat.

It was an absolute honor to share in her love for so many years. In the words of Hunter S. Thompson, “Life should not be journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow! What a Ride!” And what a ride it was!!
