In Loving Memory of Doreen Kay Briggs (née Straley)

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Doreen K. Briggs, 63, who passed away on October 12, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Born in Muncie, Indiana, Doreen was a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and unforgettable spirit. Strong-willed and sometimes stubborn, she had a heart that, beneath its tough exterior, held tremendous love for those she cared about. Selfless and generous, she gave what she could to the people she loved.

A creative soul, Doreen found joy in crocheting, making jewelry, crafting, and tending her beloved plants and garden. Her hands were rarely still, and her creations reflected the care she put into everything she did. In her earlier years, she enjoyed working as a blackjack dealer, where her strong personality could shine.

In 2023, Doreen survived throat cancer, a testament to the fierce determination and resilience that defined her last years.

She leaves behind her daughters, Angelica, Paula, and Rachael; her siblings, Diana, Debra, and David; her beloved grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorris M. Straley (2005), and father, William J. Straley (2017).

A celebration of her life is planned for early November in Denver, Colorado, with details to follow.

Though her hands are now at rest, her love and memories remain woven into the lives of those she leaves behind.
