Joda Glynn Elem

Joda “Jody” G. Elem, age 84, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on 29 August 2026.

Born on 1 June 1942 in Paris TX, He grew up with a deep respect for hard work, family, and the simple joys of life.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, where he learned the discipline, craftsmanship, and grit that shaped the rest of his life. After his service, he and his family moved to Colorado where he built a long and respected career as a Structural Ironworker, known for his steady hands, quiet skill, and unwavering work ethic. He was the kind of man who could build anything — and usually did.

He had a lifelong love of hot rods, spending countless hours under the hood tuning engines and perfecting every detail. When he wasn’t working or wrenching, he found peace in hunting and fishing, especially in the quiet early mornings that he cherished. He lived life simply, honestly, and on his own terms.

He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Barbara, and his sons, Jeff and Steve, along with their wives, Valerie and Cathy. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, all of whom will carry his lessons, his humor, and his steady presence with them forever.

He will be interred at the Pikes Peak Veterans Cemetery in Colorado Springs on 7 October 2026.
