In Loving Memory of Kent Alan Ming

Kent Alan Ming, 64, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma and Parkinson’s disease.

Kent was born on June 22, 1962, in Wray, Colorado, to Sandra Lee Crider Ming and George ("Sam") Francis Ming.

Kent grew up with a love for the outdoors, an adventurous spirit, and a sense of humor that quickly brought laughter to everyone around him. He had a positive attitude when challenges came along in his early years and he would always tell his mother, “Don’t worry Mom, it will be okay.” Kent graduated from Wray High School in 1981.

Kent then proudly served his country in the United States Army for 11 years. His service to our country took him to Germany and parts of Europe where he proudly provided support for the Gulf War. After returning to Colorado, he began his career with the United States Postal Service. Kent attained the position of Regional Training Manager for the Postal Service where he covered several states. Through his military service and many years with the Postal Service, he earned the respect and friendship of countless people.

Above all, Kent was a devoted husband, father, brother, and Papa/PopPop. He is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Marie McKeon-Ming; his children, Joseph Ryan Ming and daughter in-law Veronica Browning Ming, Joshua Brandon Ming, and Jaclynne Ming Hebert and son in-law Ty Michael Hebert; his treasured grandchildren, Brooke, Rill, Jett, Arabella, Mathias, Paxton, and Aurelia; and his brother, Doug ("Zeke") Ming and sister-in-law Mary Sue Bell, brother, Stacy ("Rocky") Ming and a host of loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Kent's greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved making them laugh, sharing stories, and creating memories they will cherish forever.

A lifelong fly fisherman, Kent found peace on the Taylor River. He loved the sound of the water, the mountain air, and the anticipation of the next cast. He shared many unforgettable fishing trips with his brothers and loved the river so much that he even named his kittens Taylor and River. Those who knew him smile at the thought of Kent casting his line in heaven's rivers.

Kent's quick wit and playful personality kept everyone guessing whether he was serious or pulling their leg. His mischievous grin, infectious laugh, and gift for making people smile will be remembered by all who knew him.

Although his illnesses ultimately claimed his life, they never diminished the love he had for his family or the courage with which he faced each day. He never lost that positive attitude from his early years. He accepted the illnesses as he would say “It is what it is.” When the medical staff came to tell Kent that he had glioblastoma, he said “I have lived a wonderful, full, and blessed life.” He had all the staff in tears. He continued fighting right up to the day he went to meet the Lord.

Kent's legacy lives on in the family he adored, the friendships he treasured, and the many lives he touched through his kindness, humor, and generous heart.

Gone fly fishing... until we meet again.
