Maria Tarquino
Aug 21, 1931 — Jul 24, 2026
Maria Tarquino passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2026. Born in Germany, she was a long time resident of Security-Widefield, CO. Married to a career Army veteran, she traveled the globe, helping establish and support her family in Hawaii, Thailand, Germany, as well as at various military bases in the United States.
Moving often and far away from friends and family members in Germany, Maria became a naturalized U.S. citizen. She dedicated her life to raising her children while creating a welcoming home in the many new and foreign lands dictated by being in a military family. A home that became a gathering place for others living a similar adventure. Maria was always quick to welcome friends brought home by her kids and always had sandwiches and snacks ready when new friends came through the house.
Maria’s passing will be deeply felt by her family and all those who knew her. Her memory will continue and inspire strength, resilience, and especially generosity in the lives of others.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Tarquino. She is survived by 2 sons, Ralph and Joe, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She will be interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on August 14.
In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Maria’s name to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region are appreciated. (Https://www.hsppr.org)
