Michael Anthony Norris

Michael Norris, of Colorado Springs, passed away at Pikes Peak Hospice on September 14th, 2026 at 12:14am. Michael was born on September 1st, 1959, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Robert and Mary Norris of Hoopeston, IL. He married Saundra Lynne Nix, of Pleasant Hill, California. They were married in Concord, California on October 15th, 1994. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Norris of Hoopeston, IL. He is survived by his wife Saundra, his daughter, Alyson, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, his son, Brennan, of Colorado Springs, his sister, Judith Burk (husband, David) of Cincinnati, Ohio and his brother, Robert Norris (wife, Lori) of Union, Kentucky, along with three nieces and one great-nephew. Michael served in the United States Navy for 20 years, from July 1977 to July 1997, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served as an auxiliaryman on USS Seawolf, a pilot on DSV Sea Cliff, an auxiliaryman on USS Plunger and USS Drum, and served as Chief of the Boat on USS Los Angeles. After his retirement from the Navy, he attended Northwest Nazarene University in Colorado Springs, earning a Master of Divinity degree with a specialization in Spiritual Formation on April 20th, 2005. Michael worked at UCHealth Memorial Hospital as a chaplain for 10 years between 1999 and 2009, and then settled into semi-retirement. Michael enjoyed playing golf, fly fishing, being with his family, and was an avid sports fan, supporting the Colorado Avalanche, Kansas City Chiefs, and Colorado Rockies. Graveside services will be held on October 1st, at 12pm, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Michael’s memory.
