Floyd A. Hoard
Apr 3, 1933 — Oct 3, 2026
In loving memory of Floyd A. Hoard, who went home to be with the Lord at the age of 93, October 3, 2026, passing peacefully at home in Brighton, Colorado.
Floyd was born to Andrew and Minnie Hoard, April 3, 1933, in Miltonvale, Kansas. A proud Korean War veteran, Floyd served in the Army, where he was stationed in Alaska. Following his service, he enjoyed an accomplished career as a diesel mechanic, working for Gray Line, San Juan Tours, and RTD. Hard-working and selfless, Floyd always put God and his family first. He was dedicated to involving his family in church and prayer. He enthusiastically always included his family in his love for the outdoors, adventures and hobbies: engines, cars, trucks, motorcycles, go-karts, tractors, ATV’s, horses, and his prized 1926 Model T. He was also a loyal fan of the Denver Broncos. Floyd’s patience, love, and compassion for children and others, combined with his fun-loving attitude and great sense of humor, made him "the favorite" grandpa, papa, uncle, sibling, in-law, and friend to many.
Floyd was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann (Boggio) Hoard. They were married in 1957 in Kansas and had two daughters. Joann struggled with mental health illness during the last four years of her life and passed away while an inpatient at Kansas State Mental Hospital in 1965 at the age of 24. Floyd was also preceded in death by his second wife and best friend, Barbara (Kelley) Hoard. They married in 1966 and moved to Colorado (Denver, then Lakewood in 1975). Floyd and Barb raised his two daughters (Barb was truly their “mom”), they later raised two of their grandchildren. Barb passed away in 2007 at the age of 76 in their Lakewood home following a courageous battle with cancer, during which Floyd was lovingly by her side. After Barb's passing, Floyd continued his devotion, assistance and activities with his family. In 2016 he moved to Brighton, Colorado to be across the street from his youngest daughter, and just down the street from two of his grandsons and their families. Floyd was preceded in death by his thirteen siblings. Floyd is survived by his two daughters, seven grandchildren, one granddaughter-in-law, two grandson-in-law, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great grandson-in-law, two sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Floyd Hoard spent his 93 years serving God, his country, and his family—an incredible role model and inspiration to all who knew him – he was truly a humble man. He will be forever loved and cherished by his family and countless loved ones.
There will be no funeral service. Floyd Hoard believed in celebrating life and sharing love with family and friends while still here to receive it. If you wish to honor Floyd, please prioritize God, Family and Country. Every day, simply choose to spend quality time with your loved ones – be patient, kind, loving, accepting, generous and fun! Choose to make others happy, be happy and enjoy every moment you have on earth and live your life preparing for eternity in Heaven with God.
