Juliann Mae Babcock

With love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Juliann (Julie) Babcock. Julie, age 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, after a long illness at her Assisted Living home in Cherry Hills.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur A Hass and Frieda Hass, her brother, Arthur L Hass, her husband, George C Babcock, and her son Joel Steven Babcock.

Julie is survived by her children, Susan and Jeff (Anne), daughter-in-law, Terisa, grandchildren Sean (Kelly), Ryan (Rachelle), Kelly, Casey, Lindsey, Steven and many loving relatives and dear friends.

Julie graduated from West Allis Central High School in 1945. She served as a telephone operator during the latter part of World War II and had dreams of becoming a Nurse Cadet but the war ended before she could achieve that goal. Instead, she attended nursing school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated as a registered nurse ( RN) in 1948.

After working for a few years in Milwaukee as a nurse, Julie and several friends moved to Denver, Colorado where they were all employed as nurses at General Rose Memorial Hospital. There she met her husband, George, who was completing his medical residency.

In the early 1950s, before they were married, Julie and her dear friend, Bev, set off on a memorable European Adventure aboard the RMS Queen Mary and returned home on the RMS Queen Elizabeth. The stories and memories from that remarkable trip stayed with her throughout her life and reflected her adventurous spirit and love of friendship.

Julie and George were married in Denver Colorado, on March 6th, 1954. They moved briefly to Orange, California before returning to Denver in 1955.

Julie's husband, George joined the Air Force following Medical School. Together they served for 4 years in Montgomery, Alabama and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Following their service, they moved back to Denver, Colorado in 1963.

Julie was an avid golfer and longtime member of Valley Country Club where she played on the women's golf team. One of her big accomplishments was that she achieved three holes-in-one. She also enjoyed bowling, bridge, entertaining friends and hosting gatherings with warmth and elegance.

In 1976, Julie and George purchased a condominium in Frisco, Colorado. There, she enjoyed many wonderful times and adventures with family and friends including skiing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and fishing. Her favorite times were spent with her family and friends with many family reunions taking place there.

Julie's love of travel continued throughout her adult life. She and her family traveled throughout the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. She and her husband/family traveled to such places as South Africa, Kenya, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Bali, Hong Kong, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Scandinavian countries, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, the British Isles, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica and the Grand Cayman Islands.

Julie was most proud of her family. She loved raising her children and in her later years was especially fond of and proud of her grandchildren and loved spending as much time as possible with them.

Julie was known for her bright smile, colorful style, gracious spirit and wonderful cooking. She helped to create lasting memories for everyone around her. She and her husband, George, raised their family with love, faith, encouragement and a deep appreciation for life. Her sweet giggle, adventurous spirit and zest for life will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Cremation has been accorded. A committal service will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. If you plan on attending, please meet at Staging Area BLUE by 1:45 p.m. and remain in your vehicles at that time. Parking areas are limited, so carpooling is recommended.
