Kathleen Diana McOmber

Aug 1, 1950 — Sep 24, 2026

Kathleen "Kathy" McOmber, age 76, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous journey with metastatic breast cancer.

Kathy was born on August 1, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, to Jack and Ellen Brady. A proud Colorado native, she graduated from the University of Denver. Early in her career, she worked at Manning Oil Company while supporting her husband Gene's business. She spent the majority of her professional life at Jefferson County Public Library, where her love of books made her feel right at home.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 27 years, Gene McOmber; her parents, Jack and Ellen Brady; her sister, Jeannie Brittan; and her nephew, Cody Brittan.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Adam) Zinkgraf; her cherished granddaughters, Zoey and Cora Zinkgraf; many loving nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Dakota, who brought her constant companionship and joy.

She was an avid reader who often read more than 200 books a year and could always be found with a book close at hand. She had a gift for sewing and quilting, creating countless treasures for family and friends. She lovingly made her daughter's Halloween costumes, handcrafted the family's Christmas stockings, sewed baby blankets for new family members, and spent many happy hours creating beautiful quilts that will continue to keep her loved ones warm for years to come.

Above all else, Kathy treasured her family. She deeply loved her dog, Dakota, and found her greatest joy in spending time with her granddaughters, Zoey and Cora. For the last three years of her life, she lived with her family and cherished every opportunity to be part of her granddaughters' lives. Whether cheering them on, celebrating their accomplishments, or simply sharing everyday moments together, those times brought her immeasurable happiness.

Kathy's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Littleton Care and Rehab. When her cancer metastasized to her bones and spine, Kathy feared she might never walk again. Through their dedication, encouragement, and unwavering belief in her, she regained the ability to walk and was able to return home to spend her final month surrounded by family.

The family is also forever grateful for the compassionate care provided by Namaste Hospice and Namaste Home Care. Their kindness and support made it possible for Kathy to remain in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones, and to experience a peaceful and dignified passing.

A celebration of Kathy's life is tentatively scheduled for Saturday November 7th at her daughter's home in Littleton CO. Family and friends who would like to attend may email Jackie at [email protected] for service details.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Kathy is reunited with Gene. Her love lives on in the quilts that warm us, the books that remind us of her, the color purple that always makes us smile, and, most importantly, in the family she loved so deeply. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
