Rickey David Reker

Rickey was born on October 21, 1951, in Fremont, Nebraska, to Dale and Virginia "Jean" Reker. Growing up in a large family, he learned the values of responsibility, family and, most importantly, compassion. He carried those values throughout his life and passed them on to his own children.

In 1971, Rickey answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Coast Guard, where he served until 1975. That commitment to service continued when he joined the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, where he served as a deputy for 35 years.

On September 2, 2001, Rickey married the love of his life, Anne, in Jefferson County. After his retirement, the two moved to Nebraska, where they lovingly cared for Rickey's mother, Virginia, until her passing in 2015. Rickey and Anne remained in Nebraska, where they built a quiet life together and always kept their door open to family and friends. When he wasn't spending time with loved ones, Rickey could be found watching his beloved Denver Broncos, one of his greatest joys.

Rickey was a devoted husband, a loving and caring father, and a loyal friend. He loved hard and was loved by so many in return. His life was defined by service and by his love for his family and friends, and his legacy will live on in his children, his grandchildren, and the community of friends he gathered over the years.

Rickey is survived by his wife of 25 years, Anne Reker; his children, Heather, Aaron, Adam, Nathan, and Katy; his children-in-law, Donnie, Tara, Jessica, Shawna, and Bry; his grandchildren, Ryan A., Evan, Ryan J., Wyatt, Brandon, Alyssa, Charly, Will, and Ollie; and his sister, Barbara.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Virginia Reker, and his brothers, Gary, Dale Jr., and his twin, Randy.

Rickey will be remembered for his service, his devotion to family, and his compassion.
