John A. Altfeltis

John A. Altfeltis, 80, of Westminster, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, after suffering with health issues for several years due to exposure to Agent Orange while serving in the US Navy while in Vietnam, leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of service and dedication, and love.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Altfeltis; daughter Lorinda Rodriguez; Son in law, Rod Rodriguez; and their children, Cherish Klamm and her husband Michael Klamm; Katelyn Brooks and her husband Colby Brooks, and soon to be great grandson Mason Brooks; and Brandon Rodriguez and his wife, Cailin Rodriguez. His son Jim Altfeltis and grandson Zach Jones and Lucas Leyton. Judy Tixier his sister and was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Altfeltis,

He proudly served in the US Navy for 27 years, serving 4 tours in Vietnam in the United States Navy as a Signalman, honorably serving his country and demonstrating courage and commitment throughout his military career. He served on several ships and was handpicked to serve on the USS New Jersey. BB62 GO NAVY!

For thirteen years he also served as an assistant pastor at a Vietnamese church for which was healing from the negative support given to the veterans returning from the war to the United States.

His family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the love, strength, and guidance he gave throughout his life. His service to his country and devotion to his Lord and Savior and to his family will never be forgotten. He served his county with honor and loved his family with all his heart. His memory will live on in all who knew and loved him. Anyone who knew him knows one of his favorite verses was:

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son

that whosoever believeth in him will not perish but have everlasting

life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;

but that the world through him might be saved.”

John 3:16-17

A service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:30am on August 19, 2026.
