Duane Lynn Kartes

Duane Lynn Kartes, 68, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 2, 1957 in West Branch, MI, Duane was the son of the late Robert and Jean Kartes. He lived a life marked by dedication, integrity, and a deep love for his family.

While in Colorado, Duane fell in love and married Elaine on February 18, 1984 and shared 42 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, and made memories.

Duane cherished his family. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 42 years, Elaine Kartes; his children, Amber Mutch (Brandon), Ashley Goodhue (John), and Jason Kartes; his grandchildren, Brandon Mutch Jr. (Kimiya), Beckett, and Brooks; his great-granddaughter, Presley; his siblings, Roger Kartes (Sue), Ronnie Kartes, and Gail Kartes; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jean Kartes.

Duane proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In recognition of his honorable service, he was awarded the Air Force Longevity Award and the Air Force

Commendation Medal. Following his military career, Duane earned his Associate of Science degree in Networking and went on to work for IBM and then Staples, where he dedicated 20 years of service before retiring. He was also a proud member of the Front Range Wood Turners where he enjoyed the craftsmanship and creativity of woodworking.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to DaVita Kidney Care and Collier Hospice (Intermountain Health) for the compassionate care and support they provided to Duane and his loved ones during his final weeks.

A committal service with military honors will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Duane will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, honorable service to his country, and the kindness he shared with those around him. His legacy of love, humility, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who kne
