Gary D. Stanton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gary Stanton on August 25, 2026, at Rocky Mountain Assisted Living. Born on August 4, 1946, in Englewood, Colorado, Gary lived a life marked by kindness, service, and devotion to those he loved.

His childhood in Englewood, Colorado, was enriched by the values and love instilled by his parents, which he carried with him throughout his life. He graduated from Englewood High School and soon after answered the call to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970. As a Vietnam Veteran, Gary took great pride in his military service and delighted in sharing his knowledge of the C-130E Hercules at any opportunity. His skill, his sense of duty, and his pleasant demeanor helped him become a Crew Chief and rise to the rank of Staff Sergeant by the time his service ended.

On March 3, 1973, Gary married the love of his life, Tyna Stanton. Their union was blessed with the joys of family, and together they carved out a special place in the world filled with music, dancing, adventure, and when needed, resilience.

Gary was generous with his time and could make anyone feel special. His colleagues, friends, and family could always count on him for a cheesy joke or a delightfully horrendous rendition of a popular song, complete with silly voices and boisterous made-up lyrics. Whether he was at work, at a Cub Scout event, or sitting out in front of a Dairy Queen with a rapidly melting chocolate-dipped cone, laughter surrounded him wherever he went.

An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Englewood, Gary found joy and community in his faith. Despite his busy work schedule, Gary could often be found in the sanctuary, where he ran the sound system for many years and made recordings of the sermon to distribute among congregants who couldn’t make it to services.

Gary is predeceased by his cherished wife, who passed on January 27, 2003, his beloved parents, Loren and Beth Stanton, and his brother-in-law Richard Height. He is survived by his sons Patric (Angie) and Ryan (Holly) Stanton; his grandchildren Brittany (David) Warren, Ashley Steele, Lauren (Adam) Westbrook, and Dash Stanton; his great-grandchildren Hunter Warren, Travis Newsome, Arthur Westbrook, and John Warren; and his siblings Sandy Height and Denny (Nancy) Stanton.

Funeral Services will be at Englewood First Presbyterian Church, 3500 S. Logan St., Englewood, CO, on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM, and there will be a ceremony honoring him at his final resting place with his wife, Tyna, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3853 S. Sheridan Blvd. Fort Logan, CO, on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
