Lee Vosler

Dec 14, 1922 — May 3, 2016

Lee Vosler, 93, after a brief illness, passed away at home in Littleton, Colorado on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Lee was born in Iliff, Colorado, a small farming community near Sterling, on December 14, 1922. She was the oldest daughter of Italian immigrants, Primo and Assunta Facchinello. Her siblings included Mary Gillen, Pete Facchinello and Ray Facchinello. The Facchinello family moved to Littleton in 1934. After graduating from Littleton High school, Lee attended Barnes Business College, where she passed her Civil Servant’s exam with a perfect score. She was recruited by the United States government to serve as a secretary in the Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC. She was soon transferred to the White House, where she served under presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman, processing correspondence. When she returned to Colorado she continued to work for the U.S. government at Fort Logan as a clerk and later for the Department of Health, Education and Welfare in Denver. She married Wilson Vosler (Wils) and they raised their three children, Jeff, Rae and Kelley. Lee’s great passions were her grandchildren, great grandchildren, golf, playing bridge and politics. She and Wils went to Arizona every Christmas to stay with sister Mary and play golf. Then she really got a chance to develop her golf game during the 17 years she and Wils lived in Sun City West, Arizona. She loved the chance to be outside all the time with no snow. She wielded a mean golf club making several (at least 4) holes in one. She won the Echo Mesa Women’s Golf Association Tournament in March of 2002 at age 79. Following Wils’ death in 2005, one month short of their 59th wedding anniversary, Lee moved to a golfing community in Littleton, but found it too difficult to continue playing golf due to her failing vision. She joined the Silver Sneakers Club and spent time at the Buck Recreation Center exercising and making new friends, as well as staying in touch with old friends from the time she played golf in South Suburban. Lee is survived by son Jeffrey J. Vosler (Liz), daughter Rae Ellen Rice (Tom), and daughter Kelley Anne Contreras (Ed), and sister-in-law Joan Facchinello. Beloved Grammy/Nana/Nonna to grandchildren Shannon Faulwell (Jeff), Angela Hauer (Troy), Jamie Bullard (Zane), Toby Rice (Jenny), Melissa Rice (Rory Curl), Sarah Contreras, Tessa Contreras, Josiah Contreras, Isaac Contreras and great grandchildren Julia Faulwell, Hannah Faulwell, Ryleigh Hauer, Lainee Hauer, Jack Bullard, Sophia Bullard, Olivia Bullard and McKenna Rae Curl. She is also survived by loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilson Vosler, sister Mary Gillen, brother Pete Facchinello and brother Ray Facchinello.
