Sandra Lee Furlong

Sandra “Sandy” Lee Furlong October 23rd, 1950 – January 31st, 2021 Huevos rancheros, without the egg please. The adventurous, rebellious, empathetic, loving spirit of Sandra “Sandy” Lee Furlong joined her husband Steve Furlong in eternal life on January 31st, with her three children Mary Sansing, Kelly Han, and Matthew Furlong, at her side. Born to Kate and Jake House, Sandy grew up in Hornell, New York, and resided in a home on Hill Street. Appropriately named for the steep incline that the house resided on. If not properly secured, there were times when the bathroom door would swing open on occupants exposing them to guests in the living room. She told stories of playing baseball in the yard with home base being the easiest because it was downhill with siblings and cousins, as well as walking into town to purchase items for her Grandmother, or when she would steal her father's car without him knowing it and reminisced about enjoying ice cream from the local ice cream truck. After high school Sandy ventured on her own creating a new life and traveling the states, she was fearless. Sandy’s brave spirit raced cars in sundresses, flew planes, rode horses, and even wrangled Steve. In 1971, Sandy and Steve migrated to Colorado where she positively impacted many lives, including those of her neighbors during infamous Dover Drive block and holiday parties, as well as those within her professional career at Teledyne Waterpik, Platte River Power Authority, Colorado State University, Eastman Kodak, and Flextronics, where she was always considered the hardest working “mother hen,” making her coworkers feel like family. Sandy had many friends, especially in the neighborhood she raised her children. Sandy was the youngest in the group, but an old soul that always fit in, she was adored. Her love continued to grow, and her heart swelled at the arrival of her first grandchild, followed by 4 more. She took every opportunity to spoil and love the grandbabies as she had done with HER CHILDREN. Although they may have fared even better because at Grandma’s house there were no rules. They were her life and she took every opportunity to spend time with them. Sandy’s love for music could be heard through the house, only surpassed by the sound of her angelic voice singing along. Her generous heart and unfettered sacrifice for others will always be remembered and eternally missed. Sandy is survived by her children Mary Sansing (Jody), Kelly Han (Stacy), and Matt Furlong (Heather); her grandchildren Michael, Jacob, Cole, Zari, Channing and Kaden, her siblings Nancy Sexton (Tom), Janet Bender, Charlie House, many aunts, uncles and cousins all of whom were the entirety of her world. This simple obituary can’t possibly capture every notable quality or experience of Sandy’s, so please join us in honoring her beautiful spirit at either of the celebrations of life in Parker on Feb. 13th at the Sansing residence from 1-4pm, or in Fort Collins on Feb. 20th at the Elks Club from 1-4pm.
