Joseph Kerr Gay

Joseph Kerr Gay Sargent First Class (SFC) Joseph Kerr Gay transitioned to his spiritual home on May 27, 2022, in Denver, Colorado. Joseph, born in Stantonburg, North Carolina was the son of Robert Gay and Martha Edwards. He attended Charles H. Darden High School in Wilson, NC. There he met his future wife Ruby C. Moore. (Proceeding him in passing 2019) Joseph enlisted in the US Army in 1951, rising to the rank of Sergeant first Class (SFC) Joseph enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with his family. He valued education, earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. Joseph worked as an Archivist at the federal government’s National Archives for 22 years. Throughout his life Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His memory is inscribed in the hearts and minds of his survivors. Son - Dimitri Nicanor Gay of St. Louis, MO, Daughters – Ursula D. Gay-Furse (Jerry) of Augusta, GA, Tondra G. Thompson (Maurice) of Ypsilanti, MI, Margarita A Gay of Philadelphia, PA; Grandchildren Jaquan E. Thompson, Kenyon M. Thompson of Ypsilanti Michigan, Step -grandson Brandon M. Furse (Jasmine); Great Grandson Brandon M. Furse Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends from a life well lived.
