Benny Berry

73, of Largo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, Sept 9, 2015. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he is preceded in death by wife of 48 years Sheila R. Berry; parents Harold and Jessie Berry; sister, Ruth Yaron; brother Tommy Berry. Survived by his three sons, Craig (Melanie), Keith (Amanda) and Patrick (Kristen); six grandchildren, Fiona, Louis, Cooper, John, Milo and Aiden; sisters Liz Gaw, Helen Barber and Sue Berry; brother David Berry. A Florida native and Largo High School graduate class of '60, Benny affectionately nicknamed "Bunny" by his classmates for his pet rabbit collection, lettered in Football, Basketball and Track. He was honored as "Best All Around Junior" and "Senior Superlative" by his classmates. A veteran of the United States Army, he completed basic training in Fort Jackson, SC and served on the East West Berlin border from '60-'63. Returning to the states in '63, he took over the family paving and landscaping business H. Berry Paving for 51 years. An avid fisherman, boater, diver and beach bum, he spent much of his time outdoors on the water and the beach. Dad is now watching over his grandchildren and walking with mom on the beach. A family beachside gathering is being planned for a later date.
