James Joseph Szenas

Szenas, James Joseph 79, of Pinellas Park, died Friday, September 18, 2009, at Hospice House Woodside. Born in Leechburg, PA, he came here in 1968 from Washington, D.C. He graduated from University of Connecticut and Trinity University in San Antonio, TX with a Master's in Psychology. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He expanded and grew Goodwill Industries, throughout the state of Florida as well as establishing the first Goodwill in Hungary. He was inducted into the Goodwill Hall of Fame. He touched and enhanced the lives of many disabled people. He was a long time, active member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church, Seminole. His hobby was wood working; he was a member of the St. Petersburg Rotary Club and volunteered at Largo Medical Center. He was preceded in death by parents Julius and Mary Szenas; brothers, Jules and Alex and sister, Louise Moorhead. He is survived by sons: Mark Cheryl Szenas, Tampa, Fl and Gregory "Grab" Szenas, Clearwater; grandson: John Alexander Szenas, Tampa, FL; his former wife: Ginger Szenas, Homosassa; his sweetheart: Eva Schmidt, Largo; and 5 nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, Sept 25th at 12:30pm at Oakhurst United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery at 2:15 pm on Monday, Sept. 28th.
