Janet Marie Porter

PORTER, Janet Marie, 79 of Madeira Beach, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2013 after a long illness. Born in Boston, Mass to the late Leslie and Eva (Sargent) Russell, Janet is survived by her loving husband of over sixty years, L. Russell Porter. Janet attended Medford and Somerville high schools and graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute in Mass. She worked in several hospitals as a Medical Transcriptionist. She resided in Danvers, Mass and later moved to N. Hampton, NH. She moved to Florida in 2003 and summered at her "Lake House" in Newport, ME. Janet was an avid Scrabble player, and enjoyed needlework, reading, playing the piano, boating, cooking, dancing, listening to country music. She also enjoyed shopping, watching the sun set over the water and traveling. Besides her husband Janet is survived by her brother, Leslie F. Russell. She is also survived by three daughters Linda Maddocks, Sandra Judge, Shirley Spencer and her husband, Tom, and a son, Wayne Porter and his wife, Doreen. She had seven grandchildren, Dana Kelly and his wife Melisa, Scott and Laura Kelly and her fiancee, Richard Cayce, Kristen Porter, Diane and Brenda Judge and Kim Spencer; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Sophia, Jaqueline, Brodey and Charles. Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Smith. Janet is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
