Manuel Pena Pego

Manuel Pena Pego passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013, at the age of 84 at home in Largo, Florida surrounded by the people he loved most, his family. Manuel was born December 9th, 1928 in La Coruña, Spain to Maria and Manuel Pego. He is survived by his two sisters, Carmen and Ester, his brother Maximino, his wife of 53 years Catalina, his only child Manuel, his daughter-in-law Isabel, and two grandchildren Matthew and Stephanie Pego. Manuel also has several nieces and nephews living in New Jersey. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Manuela. Manuel lived a long and full life. He worked as an apprentice stone mason to his father in Spain before serving in the Spanish Navy. He later worked as a fisherman and sailor on his way to a new life in the United States. It was in New Jersey that he met his loving wife and had a son while establishing a career in construction. In 1980, he moved to Florida with his family and soon became a grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and cooking but especially spending his Saturdays with his grandchildren. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Friday September 6th.
