Peter L. Green

Peter L. Green, 73, of St. Petersburg, departed his earthly home and entered God's heavenly kingdom Friday, January 13, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was under the care of Hospice and embarked on his Home Going with his loved ones by his side at the family residence. Born in England, Mr. Green immigrated to America in 1972 with his wife and three children. He was a retired boilermaker and business owner, and a member of the Masonic Order and the St. Andrews Pipe & Drums. He attended Faith Presbyterian Church in Seminole. Mr. Green was very musically gifted and played a number of instruments. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoyed playing golf, working out at the gym and riding his motorcycle. He was also a faithful fan of the Florida Gators and the Pittsburg Steelers. A devoted father and grandfather, the love of Mr. Green's life was his wife of 49 years, Barbara. They built a successful pest control business together and, in their retirement, they enjoyed traveling with their small group of close-knit friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Cheryl & Charles Dunson of Cleveland, Tennessee; Nicola and Rolfe Hebert of Post Falls, Idaho; and Jacki and Tom Short of Lakeland, Florida; one granddaughter, Skyler Leona Short of Lakeland; and one brother, Alan Green of Bury, England. Mr. Green also leaves behind his dear friends, Andy and Carol, Jerry and Sally, Joe and Audrey, and Val. A celebration of Mr. Green's life will be held Feb. 18th at 11 am at Faith Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to attend this memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Green's memory to Suncoast Hospice and the Purple Team (Renee and Steve) who tended to Mr. Green with care and compassion.
