Mark Jay Love

Mark Jay Love, age 71, passed away August 18, 2025, in Jackson, California. Born on January 1, 1954, in Sacramento, California, to Raymond and Billye Love. Mark attended Jackson schools and graduated from Jackson High School in 1972 and lived all of his life on the family ranch in Jackson. 

Mark was an avid reader, enjoyed riding motorcycles, and spending time in the mountains. As a teenager, Mark spent every summer with his grandfather in Markleeville and at the family cabin in Hope Valley. 

After high school, Mark worked for Calaveras Tool and for Cal Trans, plowing snow out of the Caples Lake Maintenance Station. Still, the majority of his working years were spent working for the City of Jackson Public Works Department, where he met and made lifelong friends.

In more recent years, Mark adopted Emily, an Alaskan Husky Shepherd mix, from the local shelter, and they were inseparable and true companions. 

Mark is survived by his brother, Scott Love (Lisa); niece, Mackenzie (Cody); nephews, Tyler (Bailey) and Travis; and his loyal dog, Emmy, or "Em".

At Mark's request, there will be no services, and his final resting place will be in the Fredericksburg Cemetery in Fredericksburg (Woodfords), California, Alpine County.
