David N. Johnson

March 27, 1949 — June 8, 2026

David N. Johnson, 77, of Merritt Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026 due to complications from vascular dementia at Autumn House in Viera, Florida.

Born on March 27, 1949 in Jamestown, New York, David graduated from Jamestown High School and joined the Navy Reserves where he got his training in heating and ventilation. David leveraged that education into his life time career by starting his own company Climatic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Inc. in March of 1978. He retired and sold his business to a long-term employee in January of 2022. David had a lifelong passion for all sports, including the goal he set for himself to visit all 30 Major League Baseball parks starting in his 65th year. David had a philanthropic spirit and was involved in many charitable events within the Brevard community, primarily Space Coast Discovery (previously Space Coast Early Intervention Center), a children’s program that David supported for many years through the Tim Wakefield Golf Tournament as a sponsor.

David is survived by his former wife Tonia Miller and her two children Shauntae Sawtell and Marisa Franco, former wife Deby Johnson and their son Derek Johnson along with his grandchildren Alex, Erica and Bailey, his son Chris Harper, his two brothers Dale and Daniel Johnson, and his mother Janice Johnson.

David’s wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes scattered with those of his father John Elmer (deceased) and his mother Janice at the time of her passing. A simple celebration of life will be held in David’s honor at a time and location chosen by the family.

In lieu of flowers, in David’s honor the family requests that donations be made to Autumn House activities https://a.co/hHSm9P4 in recognition for the outstanding care they provided David during his time under their care or the children’s development program at Space Coast Discovery (www.spacecoastdiscovery.org/donate/)
